So much for Liberal Bias in academia....

I never found the "Liberal Bias" that is so popular to claim in right wing circles about the academic world.  In fact when I was just getting into college I was a little disappointed haven't dropped out of high school where a majority of the teachers that wore their politics on their sleeve were conservatives.

In fact the conservatives efforts on campus to promote political correctness when it comes to a "teaching bias"-- that isn't there-- has caused more problems and has led to teacher intimidation in the process.  Its another great example of political correctness run amuck...

Plus its a failure to understand the constructs and complexities of education, politics, and social organizations as a whole, but the myth will continue to be perpetuated i'm sure.  It makes for good propaganda.

Here is another study backing up that claim...

Political Minds Don't Think Alike

Neil Gross, a sociologist at the University of British Columbia, finds in a new study that most professors do not impose their political views on students. While he confirms right-wing suspicions that there are an abundance of liberals compared to conservatives at most institutions, his study finds professors generally embrace academic values that restrain them from promulgating a single political agenda. A professor's openness on where they politically stand and how they disperse that information to their students usually depends on the professor's academic subject, the cultural norm and tolerance of the educational institution.
