Email from a tea party activist...

Someone emailed this to me to pass on... I added a few links below the email for contex just an fyi.  As always, feel free to email me items of interest, events, new articles, comments, or questions as I'd be happy to share them.  I see the job of a State Representative to include empowering your voice and helping build a more engaged, informed, and active citizenry.

But I need your help in making that happen by sending stuff my way JimN2010@gmail.com

YOUR ACTION IS URGENTLY REQUESTED
Dear Fellow Tea Party Patriots,

We still have a chance to defeat ObamaCare. We need to target the  House members that voted for the Stupak Amendment.  We feel that the Congressmen and Congresswomen listed below are particularly susceptible to changing their vote.

The Senate version does not include the Stupak language and it is highly likely that the Senate version will prevail in negotiations.  Some House members had refused to vote for the Pelosi health care bill until the Stupak amendment was added.

We feel that this is a "weakness" that can be exploited in order to defeat  this bill and prevent government take over of our health care system.

Please contact the following House members and ask them to vote "no" on the healthcare bill. The bill passed the House with a razor thin margin of 220-215.

A couple of points

1) Factcheck.org  have gone over this issue time and time again...nothing in the house or senate bill creates a government takeover of the health care system.  Its unfortunate that some talking heads and political elites have spun it this way.

2) Its worth looking at some free trade approaches to reform: Free Trade in Health Care: The Gains from Globalized Medicare and Medicaid.  Basically outsource health care to foreign governments who have far more effective, efficient health care plans.

3) it might also be worth your time to check out this report: The Benefits and Savings of Publicly-Funded Clinical Trials of Prescription Drugs.  As cutting the costs without hurting quality can reap huge rewards for us as a nation.
