"Nobody can be an expert on health care, global warming, and all the other important issues they face. The underlying scientific, economic, political, sociological, etc. issues are too difficult (in some cases even for the experts). To overcome that, we have to rely upon people we can trust, often experts who can help to guide us to the correct decisions, but sometimes it's a trusted intermediary. Critical thinking skills can help us determine who to listen to, but it still comes down to trusting that you are getting the best possible analysis of the problem"
--Mark Thoma, Economist at University of Oregon
I created issue teams for my campaign because I believe we need to be educating ourselves and joining together to learn from one another to identify the best policies and most appropriate responses to the challenges we face.
By creating a new generation of leadership that comes directly from and speaks directly to people in the community--we can begin the long process of creating effective, efficient government.
We need to send the career politicians packing... but we can't do it unless we roll up our sleeves and work together.
