Senate Health Care Bill

More from the David in the inbox:
Here's the bill just released by Sen. Harry Reid:
Senate health care reform bill, manager's amendment (http://democrats.senate.gov/reform/managers-amendment.pdf)
It's 383 pages long, MUCH shorter than where the Senate started. (There's also a link to it on the home page at www.pickensdemocrats.org.)

There will be a cloture vote (to override the Republican filibuster), which everyone in the Democratic caucus -- including Ben Nelson (NE) and Independent Joe Lieberman -- has agreed to support. There still will be a minimum number of hours of debate before the vote on the bill itself, which is scheduled for Monday at 1:00 a.m. THEN it goes to the conference committee with the House, which must report out a unified bill. (The conference report CAN be filibustered in the Senate, so don't expect much change from this Senate bill.)

The Republicans are continuing their usual misinformation (I'm being polite, no 4-letter words -- just be careful not to step in it) and delays, but it looks like the health care security that Americans have been denied for decades will finally be there for MOST under-65s. The work will continue.
