I'm seeing it on both the left and right...

But anyone who thinks Obama won via some massive mandate on policy is dead wrong.  Obama won because 4 more years of Bush policy via McCain/Palin was far worse--the conservative wing of the Republican Party had run this country into the ground, so much so that many Republicans jumped ship.  Colin Powell and Francis Fukuyama are two good examples of Obama voters who were not drinking the kool-aide just smart enough to know when the damage of 8 years must be undone.

The recent Powell critique of Obama has been spun by some people (and ignored/misinterpreted by others) in a way that plays up the kool-aid meme.  That somehow they were mesmerized by a good speech or two.  The kool-aid meme is one that fails to appreciate the dynamics of politics--that we live in a complex world and there are many aspects over and above ideology that one must (or at least should) take into account.

Though, unfortunately, one of my friends in California says there are a lot of kool-aid Democrats as well--as they think "the good guys won" (what ever that means?) and that all is well with the world.  When citizens turn watchful eyes away from government, because they are fed up, or because their side won... thats when the most damage is done.
