Its been a while since i've had a time to write songs for A Speculative Fiction.

But yesterday was my baby sister's birth day.  She turned 2 and it kind of gave me that in the gut feeling that likes to come out in song.

Here's a rough version of it.  Needless to say I'll work more on it as I have time.... and yes, I realize that I ripped this off from Mike Ness... at least I think it sounds like it... and I'm working on another verse that references all the days I'd skip school and show up at ryans house, put on Social Distoritions Mainliner and go to sleep.

Happy Birthday Izzy!  Your brother loves you!

lyrics

Charmed LIfe

yesterday was quite a day
one where you can just feel your place and know
that where you been and where your from
you survived a lot and had some fun you know

and smiling to your self
you see the teenage angst paid off well
and the tattoos still feel fresh and new
and regrets they just don't haunt you
the drugs and jails and dead friends too
overcoming ubermensch with a cup of tea--you'll never believe you'd live a charmed life

my baby sister just turned two
and even thought I've never met you
I still somehow feel connected to your life
and when you grow up big and talll I hope you come and visit your cooya
so I can tell your storys of where your genes come from...
cause theres lots to life. theres lots to learn
theres lots to cry. and lots that will burn
but your not alone--though I'm sure your feel like it time to time
and I'll tell your stories about a million others who've also lived a life with a little glory
the gifts they come must unexpectedly
you'll never believe but  lots of us have lived a charmed life
yesterday was quite a day
one where you can just feel your place and know
that where you been and where your from
you survived a lot and had some fun you know

and smiling to your self
you see the teenage angst paid off well
and the tattoos still feel fresh and new
and regrets they just don't haunt you
the drugs and jails and dead friends too
overcoming ubermensh with a cup of tea--you'll never believe I've lived a charmed life
