Is fascinating
It makes sense in the sense that people are struggling and angry... economic downturns have severe repurcussions in the day to day lives of americans.
The failures of economic policy makers are very real.
The fact that many Americans are struggling is very real.
But some of this stuff is just out of touch. I think the fact that we've moved from a written based to a visually based society as noted by Chris Hedges recent book has something to do with it. TV entertainers and youtube video's can be seen any time you want---but thats not news!?!?!
A friend said she didn't listen to NPR because it was boring---that might be another reason.... our attention spans and ability to desire to think through and debate has dwindled. We've become the "if you don't agree with me... well I just will have nothing to do with you..." society. Which means we can't learn and grow... societies need social cohesion and a sense of community to flourish.
Our news has become as short as headlines and two minute tirades between talking heads.
First we had to buy up guns cause Obama was going to take them... now we have to revolt because millions of Americans will be able to afford health care (and um... lower the deficit)?
Oh yeah... not to mention that "high tax Obama" has considerably lowered taxes for most Americans.
