Stand up for the Public Option.... [my wife is going to kick my butt...]

My wife is going to kick my butt... but I just contributed $5 to the three Freshmen Reps. Polis (D-CO), Pingree (D-ME), and Grayson (D-FL) who took a stand against the senate and created new momentum for the public option. Somebody want match my $15???

From the inbox:
This past week, we created huge new momentum to revive the public option in the Senate.

First, over 225,000 Americans signed our joint petition with the Progressive Change Campaign Committee and CREDO Action demanding Democrats in Congress pass the public option through "reconciliation," which only needs a simple majority to pass the Senate.

In response, freshmen Reps. Jared Polis (D-CO) and Chellie Pingree (D-ME) took on the cause in a clear letter to Sen. Harry Reid. Their message: If the Senate passes a public option using reconciliation, then the House will have the votes to pass healthcare reform.

Now we need to back these Healthcare Heroes up.

Working together with our partners, we made thousands of phone calls and rallied a whopping 92 House Democrats to sign the Polis/Pingree letter -- generating media coverage from MSNBC, CBS, ABC, Huffington Post, and others -- and creating real momentum that puts the public option back on the table.

But Jared Polis and Chellie Pingree weren't alone in showing real leadership last week. On Tuesday, Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) joined Jim Dean in Washington to deliver the first batch of petitions to Sen. Harry Reid and other senators -- turning heads in Washington and resulting in more momentum behind the public option.

Our campaign is working, but it's up to us to keep the momentum building. Let's reward these leaders for understanding what it means to lead for real reform.

Thank you for everything you do,

Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
