Nichols Calls on Opponent to Return Contributions from Rep. Steve Davis

COVINGTON, GA- After Monday's revelation that State Representative Steve Davis (R-McDonough) owes Henry County more than $25,000 in federal stimulus money, State Senate candidate Jim Nichols called on his opponent, Rick Jeffares, to return $850 in contributions from Davis's campaign committee.

"It's clear that Steve Davis is a slick politician willing to bend the rules, but this is ridiculous," Nichols said Tuesday. "My opponent should return every cent he has received from Representative Davis. He should know better than to accept money from politicians who scam taxpayers.

"Then again, my opponent is a career bureaucrat who has been paid by taxpayer dollars for years, so maybe it isn't much of a stretch for him."

Jim Nichols is the Democratic candidate for State Senate 17. He lives in Stockbridge with his wife Deana.
