Ethics Commission Fines Georgia PSC Member
Georgia's State Ethics Commission has fined Public Service Commission member Lauren "Bubba" McDonald $13,450 over his campaign finance reports for 2002, 2003 and 2004. The order concludes a case the commission opened June 2004 after McDonald filed several campaign spending reports late.
The commission says it discovered mistakes and omissions in those reports. For example, the final 2002 report indicated McDonald had no money in his campaign account although bank records reflected an $800 balance. The commission also found McDonald failed to document 80 individual contributions totaling $46,000 and 14 expenditures totaling $76,000 in 2002 reports. He accounted for the omissions in an amended report submitted May 25, 2005.
McDonald did not contest the determinations, but he can appeal the fine.
