health care reform...

interesting point in the middle of an article Consensus emerging on universal healthcare on health care reform this morning...
Hospitals and doctors fear another public program would reduce what they are paid, as Medicare and Medicaid have done. Insurers worry they could lose customers to the government.
So Insurance companies are worried that peoople will like the service the government provides... contrary to what conservatives like to say about government health care. The government bringing competition to the marketplace is and will be a good thing! Everyone who has done their homework knows it--even the insurance companies...

Now we just have to get organized!

Oh and I love that the "consensus" does not include public opinion...

From an Dec, 2007 AP Poll:
Sixty-five percent of those polled said the United States should adopt universal health insurance that covers everyone under a program such as Medicare that is run by the government and financed by taxpayers. Fifty-four percent went where politicians dare not tread, saying they supported a "single-payer" health system whereby all Americans would get their health coverage from a single government plan financed by taxpayers.
So a majority of those polled are not a part of the compromise... hmmm...
